

Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation (SFIEC) was registered in Shenzhen in December 2014 with RMB 10 million of initial funds and sponsored by Shenzhen government. SFIEC is the only private foundation that is run by the government and aims at advancing international exchange and cooperation of Shenzhen which is managed by Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office. The Objectives of SFIEC is to include coordinating social resources to improve Shenzhen’s international exchange and cooperation, and advancing Shenzhen’s efforts towards a global city. Under the principle of “public money for public good”, SFIEC is operated strictly as an organization for public welfare. It has both sponsored and participated in sister city exchange and cooperation projects, academic research, consulting training, conferences and seminars, city promotion events, cultural and sports activities. It also awards teams and individuals in recognition of their outstanding contribution to Shenzhen’s international development, exchange and cooperation. Chairman of the first council of SFIEC is Mr. Wang Shi, Founder and Honorary Chairman of Board, Vanke Group. Ma Weihua, former President of China Merchants Bank and Lang Lang, Shenzhen Goodwill Ambassador and the world-renowned pianist were invited as Honorary Presidents. Having adopted international operation and management practices, SFIEC is committed to building an international platform where domestic and global resources are shared for mutual benefits. It is also dedicated to facilitating people-to-people communication and Shenzhen’s international exchange and cooperation. SFIEC will fund for international cooperation projects relevant to China’s “Belt and Road” initiative and Shenzhen’s internationalization drive, and develop brand projects to facilitate people-to-people exchanges, and tell true stories about Shenzhen to the rest of the world.
